Boogie Woogie

If you play piano and have ever wanted to pick up boogie woogie, Learn Boogie Woogie Piano kicks some serious butt. I’m classically trained, which means that I can play like the dickens but have no clue how to improvise. It’s rare to find this sort of a primer that targets the right skill level (I can sight read it, but it’s not too easy). It shows you lots of building blocks, drills you on them, and teaches you how to put it together. It’s the best music purchase I’ve made in a long time.

I’m in the same boat as you, classically trained (I have a college degree in piano performance) but next to no improvisational skills. I’ve always regretted not learning to improvise back when my brain was still malleable. But this book sounds like a great place to start re-training myself; I’ll have to give it a shot. Thanks for the pointer!
